High-class training conditions for the summer season

Ounasvaara in Rovaniemi offers first-class conditions for roller skiers and roller skaters. Completed in the summer of 2026, the roller ski track features a challenging profile, including both steep ascents and descents. The downhill sections have been designed with inclines that guide skiers in the right direction, making the descents safe.

The roller ski track is 2,5 kilometers long and consists of several different route options, catering to both competitive skiers and younger juniors.

The City of Rovaniemi’s Sports Services is responsible for maintaining the track.

Follow the track safety guidelines

The City of Rovaniemi has established the following safety guidelines and rules for using the track, which must be strictly followed:

• Traffic signs and lane markings along the track indicate the directions of travel that users must follow for safety reasons.
• Vehicles and bicycles are prohibited on the track. Only maintenance vehicles are permitted.
• Walking, walking dogs, skateboarding, and scootering are also prohibited on the paved section of the track.
• Skiers are advised to wear protective gear.
• We recommend using the artificial and natural grass areas of the ski stadium for parking, as skiers are present on the paved areas (the upper part of Taljatie, the Taljatie parking area, and the light traffic lanes).
• A barrier will be installed at the starting point of the track. When the barrier is closed, the track is closed due to maintenance work or other safety reasons. In such cases, use of the track is prohibited.

Use of the roller ski track is free of charge for residents and visitors.
